Cookie Notice

Version 0.1
5 Feb 2020

Here at TradeCandles, like most websites and apps we use cookies to help us remember your preferences. We're all about learning so this section gives you an overview of what that means and how we will use this data.

What is a cookie?

A website cookie (HTTP cookie) is a small piece of data from a specific website (that you're visiting) that is stored on your computer whilst you're browsing the internet.

What are cookies doing?

They can keep track of how many times you’ve visited, how long you’ve spent there, and what you’ve done. That lets the site show you things which are relevant to you, based on information you’ve entered and stuff you’ve looked at. The length of time stored depends on the cookie, but this is generally between a few minutes and up to two years.

For example you may have searched for a lawnmower on a retail site like Amazon and noticed ads on facebook or twitter for gardening tools.

Cookies are also useful for remembering your login details for specific websites like social media accounts like facebook so you can easily shut down your broswer and open it back up again without having to log back in again.

What cookies are we using at TradeCandles? And why?

For someone like us we like to track the unique number of visitors we get to our site so we can see how well are content is doing and we use this to show you the things you like.

We use a couple of different kinds of cookies:

- ‘Session cookies’

- ‘Persistent cookies’

- ‘Third-party cookies’

Session and Persistent cookies track what you’re doing on a specific visit to our site

We use session cookies to improve our site and give you a better experience. Session cookies let us see where you spend your time, and work out which bits are most (and least) effective. We use persistent cookies to recognise you when you come back to our site. When we spot that it’s you, we’re able to show you the things that we think you like.

Third-party cookies show you ads for things we think you’ll be interested in

For example, if you visit tradecandles.com and look at info about swing trading, we could use cookies to show you ads about relevant platforms or books because we think it’s something you’re interested in. We also use third party cookies to find out if adverts we run encourage more people to visit our website. Third-party cookies work by sharing your browser identification with the third party (like Twitter or Facebook), so they can show you ads on their sites. They can be session specific or persistent.

Can I turn these cookies off?

Short answer is yes! You're in control.

Exactly how to do it depends on your browser or phone settings. Try looking in your ‘Help’ section, or searching for ‘How to block cookies’.

If you turn cookies off, you might still see ads for TradeCandles in other places. But they’ll be general, and not based on your specific information.

If you want to get in touch or have a suggestions on what else you'd like to see (or spotted a mistake), please email us at hello@tradecandles.com
